The Yates twins put on a great finale for Stage 1 of the Tour de France when they battled for the lead only a few meters ahead of the finish line. Adam Yates leads the pack with a yellow jersey and his brother will follow right behind in the green jersey.

It's hard to predict what could happen on such a physically demanding course. Going into this year's tour, Jonas Vingegaard was expected to claim the head start as defending champion but landed in 9th place for Stage 1. 

Neilson Powless was the underdog as the first King of Mountain for the Tour.  Will he be able to keep this title? Stage 2 features another set of heavy climbs that could put his position at risk.

Here is what your need to know ahead of Stage 2 of the Tour de France

Tour de France Route Stage 2

Stage 2 of the Tour de France starts in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain, and finishes in Saint-Sebastien, Spain. The route for Stage 2 is relatively open and totals to 129.8 miles. 

The most difficult segment will be the Jaizkibel finale. This category 2 summit is 5.03 miles long, it appears with only 16.5 left in the route.

Jaizkibel Tour de France

This is the third time the Jaizkibel is featured in the Tour de France. The steepest mile reached an 8.2% incline, and the steepest quarter mile of the climb is 9.7%. Whoever conquers the Jaizkibel could earn enough points to wear the polka dot jersey in Stage 3.
