Dane Mads Pedersen (Trek-Segafredo) promises that he will not just be a one-hit wonder with his World Championship win.

He won the rain-soaked road Worlds in Yorkshire in September and now wears the distinctive rainbow stripes. The win was a surprise for many, who now wonder if he can pull off another big one.

"I promise you. It's not gonna be a one hit wonder," Pedersen told FloBikes.

He sat down for an extended interview at the team's camp in Sicily last month as he prepares for the 2020 Tour Down Under and the Classics season ahead.

He said that he believes he is in better shape than he was at this point last season.

"But I'm also more relaxed. I was already a little bit stressed in December last year, and it was maybe maybe too much. But now I'm more relaxed," the 24-year-old continued.

"And I really believe that the way I'm doing it now is the right way to be good in the Classics. Again, it's really difficult to sit here and say 2020 is going to be the year I'm on the podium in Roubaix or Flanders, but I will be there at one point, right now it's maybe it's going to be more difficult because of the rainbow jersey.

"But I would just be happy if we next year as a team. I would be even more happy if it is Jasper Stuyven winning one of the big races."

Already, the he showed that he has massive potential. Just 22 years old in 2018, he placed second in the Tour of Flanders behind Niki Terpstra.

In the Classics this year after the Tour Down Under, he will help lead with Stuyven and support from riders like Edward Theuns and American Quinn Simmons.
