Environmental campaigners "Derniere Renovation" staged a second protest at the Tour de France on Sunday, which may have led to a crash in the peloton. 

With 65km remaining of Sunday's stage, two escapees slightly ahead of the peloton suddenly slowed down as protestors blocked the road. 

The following pack also broke, and Dutch rider Steven Kruijswijk, a teammate of overall leader Jonas Vingegaard, was injured. He later pulled out of the race. 

Two of the protesters were chained at the neck, while two others let off pink flares. Another wore on her T-shirt the prophecy "984 days left," a message the clock is ticking to stop carbon emissions. 

Stage 15 of the Tour de France runs along a picturesque route from the medieval town of Rodez to the fairytale Cathar citadel at Carcassonne. 

Derniere Renovation also briefly halted the Tour de France in the Alps on stage 10 in a protest stunt that went viral. 

The same woman who interrupted Roland Garros in June, this time chained herself by the neck to another protester. That fay her T-shirt carried the slogan: "We have 989 days left."
