In 2019, Phil Gaimon got a call from the U.S. Olympic team. The former WorldTour cyclist turned Strava KOM-hunting "retired" racer and YouTuber was invited to try out for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics team pursuit squad. Track racing required Gaimon to undergo a drastic change in his training program. The track-racing journey ended in disaster for Gaimon. Soon after Gaimon visited FloBikes, he was involved in a catastrophic crash at the Trexlertown velodrome in Pennsylvania. Gaimon was left with multiple fractures, a partially collapsed lung and $250,000 in medical bills. Today, Gaimon has put his Olympic track ambitions behind him. He has returned to going uphill fast and making entertaining content for his followers.
